Bio
Dr. Lorena Mathien is the Department Chair and the MS Business Management Chair in the Business Department.
Dr. Mathien received her Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) in Operations Management and Strategy (minor: Management Information Systems), her MBA with a concentration in International Business from UB, and her BS in Marketing Management from Syracuse University. She maintains her CPIM (certified in production and inventory management) certification from APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) and her PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI (Project Management Institute). She has over 20 years of industry experience and independently contracts on smaller projects with local companies.

Dr. Mathien's published work explores several areas including supply chain and logistics and operations, open education resources, project management, and intercultural aspects of management. Her recent work focuses on student experience in higher education.
Service
Dr. Mathien is actively involved in both departmental and institutional service. She served on the board of the Western New York Chapter of CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals). She volunteers her time to the community through Olmstead Parks and Retree WNY. She is currently a mentor for the non-profit ABCD.
She recently published her second book. All proceeds go to ABCD and The Sister Study, two breast cancer non-profit organizations.
